![]() ![]() The attraction takes guests on a journey through an ominous and seemingly haunted hotel in an elevator, culminating with a dramatic free-fall drop. ![]() Tower of Terror is in development at Disney. Also known as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Tower of Terror ride debuted at Walt Disney World in 1994 before opening at additional Disney theme parks around the world. While there was never any doubt fans would see her after Black Widow, there was some question as to when Johansson would step in front of the camera again after she noted that she was taking a break from acting due to the filming conditions brought upon by the pandemic. Meanwhile, fans of Johansson are likely thrilled to see the actress has lined up another project with Disney. However, it seems like the House of Mouse is back to bringing its iconic attractions to cinemas now that it has Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt's Jungle Cruise releasing in July 2021 and Johansson's Tower of Terror in the works. Disney had reportedly been developing a theatrical Tower of Terror film since 2015, which was originally going to be written by John August and had the cursed elevator transporting visitors through time.Ĭonsidering the financial and critical success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, at least initially, moviegoers may be surprised it has taken Disney this long to bring another of its classic rides to the big screen. Actress Kirsten Dunst and Steve Guttenberg starred in a made-for-television movie based on the ride in which they portrayed an uncle-niece duo who investigate the paranormal ongoings in the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Johansson's Tower of Terror project will not be the first time Disney has adapted the ride for the screen. Plot details on Disney's Tower of Terror film are not being divulged, though the narrative of the ride involves a fictional hotel where people have mysteriously disappeared from the aforementioned elevator in years past due to the machinations of a supernatural entity. A director has not been officially attached to the project at this time, though Collider sources say Disney plans to "aim high" considering Johansson's recent dual Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, as well as her upcoming leading role in Black Widow. Representatives for Disney and Johansson reportedly had no comment regarding the Tower of Terror news. RELATED: Scarlett Johansson Opens Up About Her Future In The MCU After 'Black Widow'Ĭollider has learned that in addition to starring in Disney's Tower of Terror film, Johansson will serve as producer through her These Pictures production company alongside Jonathan Lia. Filmmaker Josh Cooley, who previously helmed Pixar's Toy Story 4 and is set to direct an animated Transformers film, is currently penning the script for the Tower of Terror film. Additional versions of the attraction were later constructed at various Disney sites, all of which culminate with visitors being seated in an "elevator" that free falls. Inspired by Rod Sterling's original Twilight Zone series, the first Tower of Terror ride opened at Walt Disney World's then-named Disney-MGM Studios in 1994. However, it appears Johansson plans to remain in the Disneyfamily for the foreseeable future now that she has signed on to star and produce a film based on the classic Tower of Terror theme park ride. Marvel Studios' Black Widow could very well be Scarlett Johansson's final outing as the titular heroine. ![]()

![]() Vaccination is associated with a reduced risk of long Covid-19 in some studies and is safe and beneficial in multiple special populations (e.g., pregnant women, immunosuppressed people). Covid-19 vaccines reduce the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and death but are less impactful in preventing infection or mild disease. Those at low risk of a bad outcome from Covid-19 benefit less from vaccination. Further complicating the risk-benefit analysis of vaccination in this population were the significant effects of an “endless” pandemic (e.g., virtual learning and social isolation) and the evolving story of very rare vaccine side effects (e.g., heart inflammation) in young males.ĭespite the clear clinical benefit of Covid-19 vaccination, the benefit is not the same for everyone. It’s not that these perceptions were incorrect, but the risks of Covid-19 in young people (e.g., inflammatory syndromes, long Covid-19 and very rarely death) were underappreciated. Just as perceptions of increased risk drove older adults to get vaccinated, perceptions of decreased risk caused many younger people to forgo vaccination and most parents to pass on vaccinating their children. Vaccine uptake decreased as the potential recipients’ ages decreased. Older individuals were the most likely to be vaccinated, likely driven by their self-perceptions of increased risk for severe disease and death from Covid-19. Booster doses were implemented using original formulation vaccines first, but then variant-specific vaccines were tested and eventually a bivalent formulation targeting the original and more recently circulating strains (BA.4/.5) were recommended. The occurrence of new and evasive SARS-CoV-2 variants were met with attempts to “boost” immunity by administering additional vaccine doses. ![]() As more people were infected, observations of the protective abilities of naturally acquired immunity also challenged the rationale for vaccination. The term “breakthrough infection” became all too familiar. ![]() ![]() So following on from the two sections ahead we’re looking at white tableware or tableware with white interiors for the most part, that complies with British Standard BS 6748. So what do you do? My advice is to buy un-decorated white plates and from a brand you know doesn’t add lead or cadmium to it’s glazes, which is against my mantra of always buying second-hand first, but what can you do? Ideally buy branded plates second-hand but I appreciate that this is not always possible. ![]() I had intended to advise you to only buy tableware from companies that have proven themselves to comply with British Standard BS 6748 or equivalent but, as noted in an EU report in 2017, scientific data has found it necessary to revise down these levels since 2009, something that has yet to happen. They also stated that their tableware was fully compliant with the British Standard BS 6748 – Specification for limits of metal release from ceramic ware, glassware, glass ceramic ware and vitreous enamel ware. ‘ Denby does not add lead as a direct ingredient to any product (unlike lots of other manufacturers) we claim our product is “lead-less” or “lead-free” in that lead has not been intentionally added during manufacture.’ I struggled to find a list of lead-free tableware brands in Europe, so I emailed one of the largest tableware brands close to home, Denby, to find out their approach to lead and cadmium (another heavy metal) in tableware manufacturing. The Australian government says it’s unlikely to find lead in white tableware, although not impossible, and they give some guidelines on how to avoid it. He found that some items were leaching lead in quantities that significantly exceeded the levels permitted by FDA. Most appear to be very informal examination like that done by Gerald O’Malley, the director of clinical research at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Emergency Department, on tableware from Chinatown in Philadelphia. The internet is full of blog posts and web pages on the danger of lead in tableware, including government websites, but I struggled to find clinical studies on the matter. The level of lead in the clay doesn’t normally pose a risk to health but some manufacturers add lead to their glazes to make them easier to work with and more durable and this can result in harmful levels migrating into our food. Make a one-time donation via Paypal Photo by Brooke Lark on UnsplashĪccording to my research all ceramic tableware will contain some trace of lead because it’s a metal that is naturally present in the clay used to make tableware. If you like your sources to remain independent then please share this article, or Nothing mentioned in this article has been sponsored. I wrote about toxin-free minimal kitchenware last year and now I’m moving onto sustainable toxin-free tableware and by tableware I mean all the bits and pieces you use to eat your meal. ![]() ![]() "Light-hearted and fast-paced, Soulless will please fans of fantasy, historical fantasy and paranormal romance alike."- The Miami Herald ![]() "I was enchanted from start to finish.". The goal is to match the image’s false color overexposure part (red color) to the clipping area that appeared in the waveform. We will repeatedly adjust and output LUT in LutCalc, and then load it into the camera for testing. By observing the waveform, we know that in V-Log plus DR Boost mode, the highlight clipping point of the GH6 is around 88% IRE value, which is a crucial reference indicator. The general idea is to modify the official LUT based on GH6 characteristics. There are two materials for making the false color LUT, the first is the official Panasonic V-Log to V709 LUT, and the second is the LutCalc conversion tool developed by Ben Turley. So the LUT has only targeted the V-Log plus DR Boost mode. Otherwise, its dynamic range is even slightly worse than the old GH5. Since the GH6 uses a dual gain output sensor (DGO) that provides additional 1.5 stops of dynamic range, I believe most professional creators will use the V-Log plus Dynamic Range Boost mode. Fortunately, we can load a false color LUT in the V-Log View Assists menu to achieve this feature that only some higher-end cinema cameras have. However, in more complex scenes, you may need false color to work faster because you can see the IRE value of each part of the image. ![]() ![]() In most scenarios, exposure using waveform is sufficient. We all know that the GH series provides videographers with many convenient exposure control tools other mirrorless cameras do not have, such as waveform. If you are not interested in the technical details, you can download the LUT file I have already generated and copy it to the memory card, then use the V-Log View Assists menu on the GH6 to read and use it. Alternatively map it to ARRI Log C gamut and use popular film print LUTs.GH6 does not have the False Color function built-in, but we can achieve this advanced feature by loading a Monitor LUT (.vlt). In post, use a BT.2100 HLG to Alexa 709 3D LUT for grading, HLG uses BT.2020 gamut so you should map it to a BT.709 gamut first, do not grade directly and simply add saturation, the colours will be wrong. Ideally you should shoot HLG with external ProRes HQ 10bit 422 codec due to the aggressive tone curve manipulation in post. ![]() Another reason why a colour accurate external monitor/recorder would be extremely helpful when shooting HLG.ĥ. Factor this in when lighting and developing looks for your film. HLG has a slightly cooler white balance compared to F-log and film sim, so be careful setting the kelvin value. You need custom LUTs to help you preview final exposure, otherwise it's hard to see what's going on in the scene and may lead you to overexpose.Ĥ. X-T3's HLG implementation follows ARIB STD-B67 NHK spec which places middle grey much much lower than BBC spec. An external monitor/recorder with custom 3D LUT feature is a must. In low key scenes (like the one above), shadow area will have visible grain, with ProRes HQ 10bit 422 recording, the noise pattern is pleasing and monochromatic with a fine 35mm texture, turn in-camera noise reduction off (-4) and "interframe NR" off to preserve the texture, otherwise you get blotchy patterns.ģ. HLG wasn't intended to be an acquisition format so there's very little room for error.Ģ. Respect the ISO1000 rating and be extra careful, do not over/under-expose more than 0.5 stop, ideally should be spot-on. Observations for working with HLG on X-T3:ġ. HLG mapped to ARRI Log C Wide Gamut using LUTCalc: Here's a graded frame from a feature film I'm currently shooting, entirely using X-T3 outputting HLG to Ninja V. Also, HLG makes full use of 0-1024 10bit code value, while F-log throws away 0-95 which could contribute to banding. Reds are deeper and richer with very little orange shift seen in F-log images. It's clear that HLG completely removes the magenta hue in F-log and renders shades of blue in a way that's reminiscent of Alexa. HLG with Alexa LUT generated by LUTCalc, no grading, WB 5300K, Shift 0: Here's a better comparison than the one from my previous post:į-log with Alexa LUT generated by LUTCalc, no grading, WB 5300K, Shift 0: To me, X-T3 now feels like a completely new camera shooting with HLG. I'm pleasantly surprised by the refreshingly new colorimetry and better (not higher) dynamic range distribution. I've been exploring the power of HLG picture profile introduced two months after X-T3's release. ![]() ![]() Finally, every font in this series has been completed with 270 copyright-free symbols, some of which have been proposed by several international organizations for packaging, public areas, environment, transportation, computers, fabric care and urban life.
